The World's End business was closed for the better part of an entire year at the time when Vivienne and Malcolm were going through the first stages of their split. During that time, she went to Italy to see Fiorucci, who encouraged her and let her make use of his resources. During that time, she traveled to Italy to spend time with Fiorucci. She began thinking about how to bring the past into the future about the same time as she began working on a collection that was inspired by monarchy.
My mother was swayed by the photographs of computer-enhanced views of galaxies and the event horizon of black holes that she saw in the astronomy magazines that I showed and loaned to her before she left for Italy. These photographs appeared in the magazines that I showed and loaned to her before she left for Italy. The articles that she read about "Deep Sky" photography and the photos of Saturn's rings also served as a significant source of inspiration for her.
She planned on knitting Prince Charles a sweater in the manner that she thought he may like wearing in his leisure time. She based this assumption on her observations of his wardrobe. As such, it included all of the insignia that are appropriate for a prince of Britain, such as griffins, coats of arms, the thistle for Scotland, the leek for Wales, and the shamrock for Ireland, as well as a chain, the crown, and the orb from the royal jewels. Additionally, it included the shamrock for Ireland. She came to the conclusion that the orb should have an otherworldly quality to it, so she encircled it with satellites, much like Saturn's ring, and she included the terms "Deep Sky" and "radar dishes" into the design of the jumper. Carlo D'Amario, a close friend of hers who had previously lived in the United States but had since relocated to Italy, was there at the time (who is now the Westwood business manager). When he noticed the orb design on the jumper, he told her that it would be perfect for her logo and that it was on the jumper. When she was working on developing a brand for herself at the time, she was collaborating with another person, and he thought that the sign properly reflected her objective of modernizing a time-honored process. He believed that the symbol was ideal. After that moment, the new logo will be included into all of the succeeding collections in their entirety.
It was first seen as a simple orb pendant in the Harris Tweed AW 87-88 show, but it has since been reimagined in countless ways. Some of these ways include: as neon lights in the Davies Street shop; as the tops of clothes rails in all shops; as a massive chandelier in the Conduit Street press office; and as the tops of perfume bottles, amongst many other locations.

Vivienne was the first designer in many decades to use the traditional British fabric, which contributed to the company's recovery from its previous financial predicament.
